About the Campaign
From Campaign Director Laura Murphy

The Bridges to the Future Capital Campaign is off to a wonderful start with the kick off being the Spiritual Emphasis Orientations in each district.  Thank you to the many churches that participated in those orientations and have begun the Spiritual Emphasis phase of this campaign. We thought it might be helpful to clarify that the Bridges to the Future is a three- phase campaign: 1) Spiritual Emphasis 2) Pledging and 3) Celebration.

The Spiritual Emphasis Phase is set up to lay the foundation for the rest of the campaign by asking churches to engage in prayer and education for and about the Bridges to the Future campaign. Materials will be provided at the orientations that can assist each church in these areas. The churches participating in bold intentional prayer for the campaign as well as setting aside three consecutive Sundays to focus on campus ministry, camping, and church growth/revitalization and then agreeing to receive a presentation about Bridges to the Future for their congregation are called Spiritual Vision Partners.

Q: What should I be working on for the Spiritual Emphasis Plan in my church?

A: We would suggest:
  • Start with bold, intentional prayers for yourself and your church to ask God how you and your church are being called to impact the ministries of Bridges to the Future.
  •
  • Put together a Spiritual Emphasis Task Force of 3-5 people to make a plan within your church.
  •
  • Get 3 consecutive weeks on your church calendar to use the bulletin inserts and educate the laity on the ministries Bridges to the Future is reaching.
  •
  • Be positive in your thoughts and conversations about the Bridges to the Future Capital Campaign.
  •
  • Be prepared to accept the phone call and offer from a District Steering Committee member to come into your church and share the Bridges to the Future Story.

Q: $5.3 million sounds like a lot of money as a goal for The Bridges to the Future Campaign. How is my church supposed to be able to impact that huge figure?

A: Start with implementing the Spiritual Emphasis phase of this campaign. I have a feeling that discernment will come to you and your congregation during this process. Then, open your mind and heart to the next phase when your church receives a presentation on Bridges to the Future. Our goal is to have every church participate in both phases doing what they feel they can do according to their church size and means. A church will not know what they can do until they are educated on the campaign, challenged, and have spent time reflecting on the proposed ideas.

Bridges to the Future is about creating something
great together that is more than any one of us could do alone.
