Duties / Purpose

Lay Leader: To gather the hopes and concerns of the congregation and community; to plan with others to address some of these; to recommend these plans to the appropriate administrative bodies and leadership; and to actively participate in and support such programs so the community may become more loving and just.
Membership Secretary(ies): To keep accurate membership records so that the congregation can help its members grow as Christian disciples.
Committee on Finance Purpose: To propose, raise, manage, and distribute the resources of the congregation to support and strengthen the mission and ministry of the congregation.
Church Treasurer: Bill DeMoss Duties: To disburse all funds received into the church treasury in a responsible and organized manner, with funds identified and bills paid when due, so that the ministry of the congregation can be effective.
Financial Secretary: George Belcher Duties: To receive, record, and deposit all funds received by the congregation and to work with the treasurer and committee on finance to develop policies and procedures so that funds can be made available to support the ministry of the congregation
Board of Trustees Purpose: To supervise and maintain all property belonging to the congregation so that the ministries of the congregation can be effective.
Staff Parish Relations Committee Purpose: To support the pastor(s) and other staff so that these people can work effectively in managing the ministry of the congregation for witness and service.
Lay Leadership Committee Purpose: To ensure that the congregation has a process for discovering, inviting, nominating, and supporting people for Christian spiritual leadership positions essential to the ministries of nurture and outreach in the local congregation and community.
Council on Ministries Purpose: To lead the congregation in long-range planning and in carrying out its program so that people are received into its fellowship, encouraged in strengthening their relationship with God, and supported as they seek to live as Christian disciples.
Calling and Caring Committee Purpose: To ensure that the congregation reaches out to people with the good news of Jesus Christ and receives them into its care so that they may develop a relationship with God and live as Christian disciples.
Discipleship Committee Purpose: To perform the task of welcoming people into the life of the church with genuine Christian hospitality so that they may develop a relationship with God, with other Christians and continue to live as Christian disciples.
Children's Council Purpose: To address the concerns and conditions of children in the congregation and community so that they may grow in their understanding of themselves and the Christian faith, and that their quality of life may be improved.
Youth Council Purpose: To address the concerns and conditions of youth in our congregation and community so that they may grow in their understanding of themselves and the Christian faith, and that their quality of life may be improved.
Adult Council Purpose: To provide learning experiences for people of all ages so that they may grow in understanding the Gospel and become better equipped for daily living as faithful Christian disciples.
LOGOS Board Purpose: To oversee and administer the LOGOS ministry which reaches out to children and youth 1st grade through 12th grade in a weekly 4 part program of family time (community meal); Bible study; playtime (recreation); and worship skills.
Mission Outreach Committee Purpose: To involve the congregation in spreading the Gospel through witness and service throughout the world.
Stewardship Committee Purpose: To help people understand the meaning of Christian stewardship and the need to practice it in all of life.
Worship Committee Purpose: To work with the pastor(s) and leader(s) of music to ensure that the church provides opportunities for worship that will help people develop and strengthen their relationship with God and will help them live more faithfully as Christian disciples.
Preschool Board Purpose: A board --consisting of a parent representative from each class and five members-at-large, who are members of the church; the pastor; and the preschool director/teacher-- that oversee the budget, plan programming, and support the preschool as an outreach ministry of the church.
Memorial Committee Purpose: To help oversee and administer funds that are given specifically in memory of someone and also are designated for a specific item or ministry. Responsible for oversight in ensuring the wishes of the family are honored.
Permanent Endowment Fund Committee Purpose: To oversee and administer the church's Permanent Endowment Fund by reviewing requests from committees, groups, and programs within the church that apply for funding for specific projects and ministries beyond those provided for in the budget.
Lay Members of Annual Conference Purpose: To link the congregation and the connectional church by participating responsibly in annual conference sessions and interpreting its actions to the congregation.
