Gifts for the Future
Planned gifts are vitally important to the future of First United Methodist Church. Persons willing to make planned or deferred gifts to First Church want to affirm the sacredness and purpose of the mission of the church.
What Is a Planned Gift?
A planned gift is made now with the use of the gift by First Church deferred to a later date. A planned gift benefits the member donor and the church. Government policies, laws, and regulations encourage deferred gifts to churches. The encouragement has occurred since the federal income tax laws were enacted.
There are many forms of deferred or planned giving. The most frequent forms are outright bequests, gifts of life insurance, life estates, life annuities, testamentary trusts, and other plans.
With appropriate legal and financial advice, planned giving can effectively increase an individual's gift to First Church without reducing monthly income or depleting financial resources for retirement. Planning giving results in substantial tax advantages for the donor. Planned giving is a faithful expression of Christian stewardship.
What Is the Purpose of the First United
Methodist Endowment Foundation?
The First United Methodist Church Endowment Foundation is a legally formed, not for profit organization existing for the purpose of facilitating and encouraging planned and deferred giving by the members and friends of First United Methodist Church.
Members and friends of the church can name First United Methodist Church Endowment Foundation as a beneficiary. First Church may assign any gifts or bequests designated for First United Methodist Church to the Foundation.
Gifts received by the Foundation are held in trust forever. Earned income generated by the assets of the Foundation can be used to support outreach ministries in which First Church has an interest and/or for capital improvement needs of First Church.
Gifts to the Endowment Foundation can be designated by you to fund a specific ministry, or left undesignated, to meet future needs as determined by our church leadership.
