LOGOS Parent Participation

Parents who register their youth/children in LOGOS must make a commitment to actively participate in the program. LOGOS parents are to assist their children with assignment, counsel with them, encourage their faith and regular participation in worship, all to enable growth in the Christian Faith. LOGOS is staffed by those called to ministry, therefore, assistance by a large number of parents and others is essential to keep this system of nurture functioning. More important, however, is the "morale boosting" effect of the parent's physical presence and visible support of the program.

Areas for parent participation:

  • Dining room staff to prepare the meals and cleanup, including washing dishes, etc.
  • Table parents to guide the family style meal.
  • A greeter parent to greet and treat the children right after school. This person will treat the children to a snack and encourage them to class on time.
  • Choir parents to help the children and also sit with the choirs in worship as well as Wednesday worship times to enable and encourage best behavior.
  • Play Time assistants to participate in Play Time on Wednesdays.
  • Substitute teachers and Bible Study Assistants are needed during Bible Study to carry on the classroom work.

LOGOS Fund Raiser

LOGOS @ First United Methodist Church sponsors the LOGOS Children's Clothing, Toy, and Maternity Consignment Sale semiannually (October and April). This sale generates a large portion of the LOGOS budget each year. Top quality clothing, toys, and baby equipment are sold on a consignment basis. Articles are priced by the seller. The seller keeps 65 percent of their profit and the remaining 35 percent goes to support the LOGOS Ministry.
Your Parental support can make the LOGOS Consignment Sale a huge success. Although LOGOS benefits financially, keep in mind these profits go directly to the Christian nurture of the LOGOS youth and children. A successful sale helps LOGOS fees to a minimum.

What can you do to help support this program?

  • Sell or donate clothing.
  • Purchase quality clothing and toys.
  • Encourage neighbors and friends to attend the sale.
  • Help with the sale directly
  • Transport clothing racks
  • Wrap and sort tickets (can be done at home)
  • Register potential sellers
  • Work at receiving (check-in, sort, and place clothing on racks).
  • Volunteer sale day to assist buyers or help with child care.

The ABC's of a LOGOS parent:

  • A     Asist your young person in preparation of weekly LOGOS lessons.
  • B     Bbles and workbooks -- see that your young person brings these to class each week
  • C     Center of congregational life is worship -- attend regular on Wednesday and Sunday
  • D     Dates should be placed on the family calendar to help families follow through on their commitment.
  • E     Encourage and participate in daily bible reading and prayer with your LOGOS member
  • F     Fees should be paid promptly
  • G     Give your willing participation and service as needed to LOGOS.
